"File Encryptor" is a small program that encrypts and decrypts files. The files are encrypted to a folder which is created in your "My Documents" folder. The name of the folder is "Encryptor". The Encryptor folder contains two other folders- "Encrypted Files" and "Decrypted Files".
--------

Installation:
Run the File Encryptor setup file and a shortcut group will be created in your Start Menu's Programs list. Locate the File Encryptor shortcut in this shortcut group. This shortcut can be copied and pasted anywhere you would like. The setup procedure is straight forward so installation will probably only take you a moment or two.

The File Encryptor program is installed for the current user only. File Encryptors program files folder will be located under your profile, in your computer's file system, in the Program Files directory. This is very likely a hidden folder. Use the "Show hidden files and folders" setting to make this folder visible. This setting is located in "Folder Options" under the "View" tab.

Default Folder location:
C:\Documents and Settings\(User Profile)\Program Files\File Encryptor

Using "File Encryptor":

This is an excellent file encryption tool in that it is very easy and quick to use. The encryption method used will result in your files being ultimately impossible to run without first being decrypted. There was an encryption key created by Titlebar Software for the File Encryptor program and this encryption key is changed every three or four weeks.

Start the program and you will see an "Encrypt" tab and a "Decrypt" tab select the one you want. Click the control button located on the right-hand side of the window to select the particular file you want to work with. Then click "OK" to process the file, or, click on "Cancel" to cancel the process and select another file.

The files are encrypted/decrypted to a folder which is created in your "My Documents". The name of the folder is "Encryptor". The Encryptor folder contains two other folders- "Encrypted Files" and "Decrypted Files". The "Encryptor" folder can be deleted. It is highly suggested that you secure delete the "Encryptor" folder so it does not end up in the Recycle Bin for anyone and everyone to find. The "Encryptor" folder will be created each time the File Encryptor program is started if the folder does not already exist.

When a file is encrypted THE ORIGINAL IS LEFT INTACT. It is left in its original location in its original condition. As a result, you will need to securely delete the original files that have been encrypted. Titlebar software does have a secure delete program but it has not been released to the public as of this writing. It will likely be released in June 2006. However, there are a number of secure delete programs available as freeware- "IE Privacy Keeper" includes one and the "Eraser" is an excellent program that has been developed to securely and completely remove sensitive data from the user's computer. Both of these programs are excellent freeware programs.

Uninstall:
Go to "Add Remove Programs" in the Control Panel and locate the "File Encryptor" on the list. Click on it to highlight it and click "Remove". The Start Button's right-click "Send To shortcut to the Backup folder will be removed. The folder named "Backup" will NOT be removed if you have added any personal files or folders to the Backup folder, however, play it safe and make a backup of the "Backup folder. Delete it manually once you have secured your files.
